Materials Chemist - Research & Development

Adden Energy is developing solid-state batteries for automotive and consumer applications and is located in the Boston Area. Our technology is based on leading research from Harvard University and our team is backed by prominent venture capital investors.

We are looking for a Materials Chemist to join our growing technical team and work to scale our technology. As a key member of our team, you will make a substantial impact on the company’s future and set the stage for how we build batteries for years to come as we work to make a positive impact on climate change.

What you bring to this role:

  • PhD in chemistry, material science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience

  • Expertise and hands-on experience in synthesis, characterization and evaluation of material

  • Deep understanding and knowledge on materials synthesis kinetics and thermodynamics

  • Ambition to build a distinctive product and disrupt an industry with large incumbents

  • A desire to hold your own in a fast-moving environment alongside highly technical peers

  • A desire for hands-on work in a laboratory environment

  • A passion for product development, technology scale-up, and clean energy

Our ideal Materials Chemist will possess:

  • Previous experience in inorganic and/or solid-state synthesis, including experience in both wet and dry synthesis methods. Relevant PhD preferred

  • A demonstrable history of synthesizing, processing and characterizing R&D materials

  • A deep understanding of alternative synthesis mechanisms relevant to solid-state battery materials
