Our History

Adden Energy was founded by a group of Harvard scientists and alumni. Professor Xin Li’s research group at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences first began studying solid-state batteries in 2015.  Several impactful innovations on this topic have been discovered by the group since then, where doctoral students William Fitzhugh and Luhan Ye started to play leading roles in the technology development process. Later, Fred Hu, PhD in economics from Harvard University and Founder of Primavera Capital, joined the team and advised commercialization of this technology portfolio through a startup company. Adden Energy incorporated in 2021 and, in early 2022, received its first round of venture funding from Primavera Capital Group, Rhapsody Partners, and MassVentures.
